Understand customer needs by working with the technical teams, business and directly with customers as applicable – auto OEMs and their Tier Supplies; use 3M products and technology to understand, and articulate technical solutions for use in the Automotive domain, applicable but not limited to attachment solutions, engineered films, materials for noise vibration and harshness, high temperature resistant solutions and thermal management applications. Understanding current standards, customer requirements and competitive threats and empower and enable business to become more competitive.

• Working closely with customers to capture their needs and creatively translate them into solutions that are either existing products or actionable requirements for new products across all subsystems in an automobile – e.g. Exterior, Interior, Body in White, e-Powertrain and Exhaust solutions. • Leading technical interactions with customers to understand their needs, gathering their feedback and translating their requirements into product use requirements. • Determining if existing 3M solutions meet customer needs or if a new product will be needed. • Ensure alignment of requirements, timelines and milestones between the customer and 3M. • Maintain/strengthen relationships with key account customers through regular visits, training, and tech events. • Developing, supervising, and performing product evaluations to demonstrate product performance for our customers. • Supporting winning businesses, through data driven interactions with customers and developing customer specific application-relevant data packages and product use information. • Working with customers and 3M to develop wholistic solutions using 3M product as well as process understanding of automotive customers. • Locally supporting product change projects, including raw material substitutions, manufacturing process modifications, and new product commercialization programs. • Implementing product standards with our customers and completing associated documentation • Identifying and validating test methods to prove and demonstrate product robustness in customer applications. • Supporting New Product Introductions in collaboration with product development and other teams involved. • Be an active participant at trials and evaluations in collaboration with peer technical and manufacturing teams to drive success and evaluations with our partners and suppliers. • Leading the way on application development including responsibilities for ideation, documentation, feasibility analysis, and validation. • Collaborating with and guiding multiple teams to ensure the success of application implementation, including marketing, partners and suppliers, and customers. • Providing application support and training to customers, including in-person visits and e-media development. • Gaining a complete understanding of the application effectiveness by leading field trials and internal testing along with analyzing and presenting findings. • Well-versed with RFQ-PPAP Processes in compliance to IATF16949 followed by Auto OEMs and under the governing principles of Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) &/OR specific system requirements followed by OEMs of Korean Orgin. • Creating and protecting 3M intellectual property through the filing of new patent applications and trade secrets. • Guiding and supporting the back-end team with new technology adoption trends in the markets and be an active follower of those trends in Korea, Asia, and other places globally. • Represent the company at external conferences/ events. • Be an active member of the Global Application Engineering, R&D Community.

• Bachelor’s degree or above (Post Graduate degree is preferable) in Mechanical / Chemical and / or Materials Science Engineering / Allied subjects from a recognized and reputed university. • Minimum 3 years of relevant Industry work experience, including but not limited to automotive, industrial segments and customers having sound application of Engineering fundamentals and problem solving. • Understanding and experience in EV battery technology and cell chemistry will be of significant advantage. • Digitally sound, with good knowledge of Chat GPT, Tableau, Power BI, having knowledge and understanding in 3D Modelling, and related technical tools along with familiarity with computer-aided simulation (FEM, CFD) • Some knowledge of Business Financials will be an added advantage. ​
